What exactly does the "Expressway" reference mean? |

It looks rather like they intended to put "Expressway" on the same single, but then changed their minds and didn't take it off the printing by mistake. "Expressway" was definitely the first song they wrote that ended up on Evol, and they were playing it pretty early on the Bad Moon tour. Maybe it was originally going to be a B-side but then they decided it was such a great song it should go on the next record? |

I thought i read somewhere that its a reference to some motown song from the 60's, expressway to your heart, or something. **nevermind, im an idiot and see now what you are talking about. |
interesting
that is some vintage shit |
The Expressway reference is probably to 'an entity' of Thurston's imagination. Isn't it common for him and Lee to move lyric from poem to song to book to publishing entity?
Isn't it also common for T to rename record entities, lables, publishing etc. Kurdt Kobain also did the same.. |
Also why is that idiots keep asking for re-issue to obscure stuff? The SY discography is insanely cryptic and undecipherable...lets just leave it at that.
Also why do people get pissed off if something is released on vinyl only or whatever...That is obvioulsy done intentionally so lets just accept it... |
ahh the soul surivors....

rnecro... cant help thinking yr calling me an idiot. is it idiotic to get excited about the prospect of more output and collectables from yr favorite band?
|
No. Most certainly not. My comments might have been infused with some other collector boards that I view. Luv and respect to collectors and discographers...
Since we are all collectors and music junkies and the like I suppose I'll voice my opinion. I have always felt that bands should re-issue material based on relevancy or artistic congruency. Not as some archealogist attempt to unearth, align or whatever. Sometimes, re-issues, compliations and that lose the plot. I also find it silly when collectors scream to release some song or demo whose only merit is that of being rare and obscure. To many times I have forked over $40 for some remix that sucks... Furthermore, it seems when a song or cd warrants 'collectiabilty', the band re-issue it and becomes equally ready for the bottom of the bargain bin. I'm just sayin' |
Crazy rant I know. But what I like about the Youth is the more you attempt to pin down or get handle on what it is they do the further that you actually are.
The mystery element is still there. |
i like you dude.

Um... he was asking about the reference to Expressway on a single that doesn't contain Expressway.
|
hummm!...curious...!? it's only a reference to the engineering of Wharton Tiers for Expressay...good eye!
|
I always thought that "Expressway" meant the distance one had to travel to get through to someone. Which is a long and ardous process.
I could be wrong... |

or maybe not...maybe that is love or a evol process... mmmm!(meditating)... |

Let me know when the answer appears. Waiting a lifetime is short enough.... |
