Musical pleasures that are barely justifiable
I reckon that, as proud as we are of our varying musical tastes here, there's certain things we like that are so rubbish, they cna't be justified on even an ironic or funny sense. With that in mind, here's to place to confess your musical sins, and have the board pass judgement on you.
Well, I'll start - I have this liking for the Ting Tings which I can't really defend, but I can't help myself, I just really like them, in spite of their inherent annoyingness. In fact, I'm even tempted to go and see them play live later on this year. Right, having lost whatever credibility I had (not much to start off with anyway), what's your musical shameful secret? |
You're worried about losing credibility points by confessing a certain liking for the ting tings? Well I don't believe that your liking for them isn't at least slightly ironic, which only puts you amongst millions of others. Including i dare say, the ting Tings themselves. Now if you'd said Gary Moore. Then I'd be concerned.

The Sounds...every part of my musical soul tells me not to like them, but I do...a lot.
|
I'm neither particularly proud nor particularly ashamed of anything I listen to.

Nah, I'm not worried about losing cred points. I'm just probably going through a mid-life crisis thingy - down wiv tha kids and all that. Either that, or I want to bum their drummer senseless. |
Most times I made people listen to SY , they hated them ( and probably therefore had a bad opinion on me).

I'm the same. I'm aware that some of my tastes are painfully hip (Pussy Galore, NNCK) while others might raise some hipster eyebrows (U2, Velvet Revolver). All I'll say is that I like them for reasons that I don't always fully understand, but I DO like them. And that's good enough for me. |
Ah yes, one more: Meat Loaf's "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad" - in my pre-homo days, I was seeing this Irish girl, and this was "our" song. I even bought it on 7" single, too.

Ah, so now we're getting closer to the reality of the subject!;) |

Hahahahahahaha The idea that any couple, be they straight, homo, or whatever could have that as 'their song' is one of the funniest things i've read in a long time. Simon Bates would surely be very proud of you, |
Yes, my hands and unmentionable bits have a firm grip on the bottom-end of the Ting Tings. Actually, I bet a good few gayers end up going to that gig....hmm, maybe me going is not such a bad idea at all...

Meat Loaf could suit a post-homo person perfectly well too.:) |
Meat would do anything for love, I hear. Except rimming.
|
I like that Ting Tings song. I can't say that I harbour any kind of desire to bum their drummer though. Or their singer for that matter. Nor would I say that I like it enough to want to watch them live, or buy the single.
If it pops up on the wireless though, I'm not displeased. |
Sometimes when I'm feeling unoriginal and like a prepubescent girl I'll put on some Paramore to make myself feel more important.

There's a few Manic Street Preachers songs I like on that basis. And I still think Gene are great. But it's just stuff and things, innit? |

i'd never really thought about the concept of people taking pride in what they listen to, until now. |

Well put. |
probably everything i like, i don't give a fuck.

I have some tastes that some/most people on here would find barely justifiable, like Simian Mobile Disco, Franz Ferdinand, Hot Chip, or The Rapture.
But I don't care, I like them anyway, and it doesn't forbid me to listen to Mouthus or Double Leopards or whatever |
