How gullible are you?

Recently I have been telling people complete and blatant lies just to see if they would believe me and a vast amount did. It makes me wonder how much people blithly accept things that are placed before them.

Cantankerous 07.08.2008 12:59 AM

not.

crprte.idnty 07.08.2008 01:03 AM

I'm the manipulative one.

viewtiful_alan 07.08.2008 01:05 AM

I'm a gullible liar... I bullshit alot but at the same time I fall for a lot of people's bullshit and get let down.

✌➬ 07.08.2008 01:15 AM

I guess...

pbradley 07.08.2008 01:23 AM

I really don't consider someone gullible if that person you are lying to is a friend that trusts you as opposed to a stranger.

I never lie for the fun of it.

Toilet & Bowels 07.08.2008 04:28 AM

i don't get why someone would lie to people all the time, i think it's pathetic.

ZEROpumpkins 07.08.2008 04:47 AM

Anyone who posts in my fake truth box is completely gullible.

sarramkrop 07.08.2008 04:52 AM

I believe or take seriously very little of what's written on here.

MellySingsDoom 07.08.2008 05:04 AM

The only thing I believe in is love, peace, empathy and Foghorn Leghorn:

Foghorn Leghorn for the Warner Brothers cartoons win.

taking something seriously and believing something to be a lie are totally different things though

Hmmmm....

What I mean by taking stuff seriously in this context is probably the fact that you tend to read quite a lot of self-centred stuff that is high on opinionated bile about ''things'' that you are aware won't be of much importance to many people outside of here once you're logged out because they are often embellished for effect. That's including a lot of your posts and mine too.

i lie ALL THE TIME. i always have. it's not something i'm proud of, and i do struggle not to. especially when i meet new people, they just come out, without really thinking about it.

it's got me into a lot of trouble in the past, but i can't seem to stop. i can't really explain it. maybe it's how ready people are to believe, or maybe it's just me trying to ovedrcompensate for being a pretty boring person. who knows?

i try and be open about it, cause people seem to get less angry if you warn them in advance that approximately 15% of stories you tell are lies. also it's way more common than you might think.

oh totally, i say things for effect all the time but i assume that people realise or will realise eventually that i'm just mucking around, but other people here are saying they go around lying which is a different story.

The thing is that I don't mind if someone tells it straight that they do tell little lies, therefore you are somewhat prepared for them to come up with something that doesn't quite click. When someone does it for mischevious purposes, and they are someone you know, that's a different story. And yes, lying all the time does turn a person into a pathetic creature, I don't see why anyone wants that to happen to themselves.

well i don't want it to happen to me. it's a really peculiar kink in some people's character, and it is hard to control. i could compare it to stopping smoking or something, but i think i would get shouted at!

well at least you're honest about it, anyway, what sort of lies do you tell people?

oh just nonsense stuff mostly, i can't even think of anything specific now, like i might tell someone that i bumoed into jimmy mallet on the street once and he was really grumpy, or stupid stuff like that.

i never lie about anything serious though, cause that would make me a total wanker, but i do find it hard to get people to trust me (obviously).
