Troublesome mailorder sites.

i thought it would be a good idea to have a thread about different mailorders and online distribution shops that are not very reliable, as a heads up for people wanting to buy stuff.

i have a problem with one right now, which shall remain nameless at the moment; i ordered a very limited edition album back in october, but since they take very long to process their orders, they sold out before shipping my copy, i emailed them, got a response that it was sold out and not shipped to me and asked me what i wanted as a second choice so i picked two cds, never got them in the mail and never got a response.

i did order from them ever since with no problem until the last order i placed, something $70-something dollars worth of merch, hasn't arrived yet and they haven't responded to a single email i have sent them.

how do you deal with this? what can i do in this case?

bump, i need help.

Email them something a bit more, uhm... "serious". The Better Business Bureau deals with things like this. If you paid with paypal, you can use paypal to investigate.

get your lawyers on the case

The trouble with the "get Paypal to investigate" route is they'll only do so within 40 days of the payment being made. After that, you're up a gumtree without a paddle.

thanks for the serious help.

that paypal law doesn't apply to me, most shit i order sometimes takes more than 40 days to arrive.

do they have a phone number? have you tried calling them?

gmku 07.09.2008 05:46 PM

Name them. Who are these creeps, so that the rest of us can avoid them?

By the way, and off the subject slightly, if you're shoe shopping, do Zappos.com. Free shipping, and almost always they automatically upgrade your shipping to overnight express. You order them one afternoon, they're practically on your doorstep the next morning.

Returns are free shipping, too.

well it's been 9 months, i think it's time to name and shame

Everyneurotic 07.09.2008 06:03 PM

i'll say who they are in two weeks if they don't respond to any emails anymore.

also, this thread was about people saying if they had a bad experience with any mailorders so we all would know.

so, besides, troubleman unlimited, what's a bad place to shop for records?

i had problems with some sellers on musicstack, but it's definitely not the rule.

The only place I ever really had problems with records never arriving in my mailbox after paying for them is eBay... and even then it was just a couple of dickheads out of many transactions.

There are some mailorder sites who charge excessive shipping rates though... and I've also noticed that records from Tokyo tend to arrive quicker in Holland than records from Glasgow, but those are just details.
