New Gang Gang Dance album!!

Gosh, what a perfect day!!

Quote:

The heavens opened, the clouds parted, and what did appear? Why, Saint Dymphna, the new Gang Gang Dance LP, due October 21 on the Social Registry in North America and on Warp in the UK, Europe, and Australia.

The ten track set-- touched on briefly in a Pitchfork news interview with Gang leader Brian DeGraw back in April of 2007-- is the follow-up to 2005's God's Money. Saintly track "Princes", which features grime MC Tinchy Stryder, is being referred to in the press material as "the weirdest Gang Gang Dance track...you've ever heard"-- if true, that is really somethin'.

Saint Dymphna will be preceded by a single for album cut "House Jam" backed with a Hot Chip remix (they're fans, I'm told) and joined by a free digital download of another remix of the "Jam" by XXXChange.

The Gang will play a handful of Stateside dates later on in the summer before heading to Japan for a little while in September.

Saint Dymphna:

01 Holy Communion
02 Blue Nile
03 Vacuum
04 Princes
05 Inner Pace
06 Afoot
07 House Jam
08 Interlude (No Known Home)
09 Desert Storm
10 Dust

Can't wat to hear it! That's one of my favorite bands.
It's really great they got on Warp - though The Social Registry is one of my favorite labels catalogue-wise, their records are not that well distributed there

Listening to it for the first time right now. They haven't degraded as a band at all from what I see, but have always maintained an equilibrium of solid albumness. The track with MC Tinchy Stryder was pulled off better than I would have thought if I had just heard about it. Grime and GGD do go well together.

It's pretty god.

PAULYBEE2656 11.28.2008 08:32 AM

brilliant album.. end of story.

al shabbray 11.28.2008 09:18 AM

the whole album is great, and vacuum one of my favourite 2008 tracks

stu666 11.28.2008 09:25 AM

yep.

SYRFox 11.28.2008 09:32 AM

that's what I was about to say. That album has its weaker moments, but the entry is monumental (tracks 1, 2 and especially no.4 - "vacuum").

i'm listening to God's Money for the first time now ... looks equally intriguing.

al shabbray 12.20.2008 06:24 AM

^^exactly the first half is mind blowing. afterwards its just not that great anymore but still good

SYRFox 12.20.2008 06:47 AM

hmm I don't know, except for Inners Pace I love all of the tracks on that album - though yeah, my favorite tracks on there are First Communion and Vacuum.
I still don't know if I prefer God's Money or this one - God's Money is much more difficult to get into but it's fantastic

And Liz already announced that they're going to record a new one in January !! Which means probably a new one next year. Which is awesome

that track "Egowar" must be one of the best things I've ever heard on record.

al shabbray 12.20.2008 06:56 AM

first communion, vacuum and the second half of bebey give me a rush

greedrex 12.20.2008 06:58 AM

The two first tracks are kind of a digital AC which is nice with otherwordly sounds, the rest is even more random any Black Dice stuff. I found it horrible. Twice as tiring /exhausting as Thurston's "sensitive / lethal". I had to literally clean my eras with some tame Archer Prewitt (gerroa songs). At least i can say i tried. I can see why the majority of you like it though. Interesting / demanding music. oh well.

_slavo_ 12.21.2008 06:34 AM

damn, God's money is just so wonderful ... it's like an universe of its own or what. it's been a long time that some music moved me that much.

SYRFox 12.21.2008 07:03 AM

Yeah man, nice to see you like it :) it's a masterpiece of our time imo
it's perfect from start to finish, though at first listens there was some segments I didn't like, now I can't think of a single meh moment on that album. Everything seems perfect. I like to drown into that disc

_slavo_ 12.21.2008 07:06 AM

i can't agree more.

SYRFox 01.04.2009 10:12 AM

This is wonderful:
