Intern at Ecstatic Peace
Should I quit my job for this? :)
Independent record label Ecstatic Peace is looking for part-time unpaid interns. Plenty of hands on experience will be provided in direct sales/webstore orders and shipping, website maintenance, coordination of press materials, marketing and communications, artist relations, and general office management. Ecstatic Peace is a small office, so interns will be directly involved and get a real feel for how a record label runs on a variety of levels. Candidates should be reliable and motivated, and able to work independently and multi-task. Experience in HTML, Photoshop, Final Cut, and Quark are a plus. General computer savvy and competence is a requirement. Offices are located in Easthampton, MA, interns must be able to come in at least 6-10 hours a week. This is an unpaid internship though school credit is possible if coordinated successfully by potential candidate. About Ecstatic Peace Ecstatic Peace! is a record label based in Easthampton, Massachusetts, founded in 1981 by Sonic Youth member Thurston Moore. The premiere release was a split cassette featuring spoken word performances from Michael Gira of Swans and Lydia Lunch. The label's name is borrowed from a line in Tom Wolfe's 1968 novel The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. Artists currently on Ecstatic Peace! include Thurston Moore (solo), Free Kitten, be your own PET, Awesome Color, Black Helicopter, Tall Firs, Religious Knives, Hush Arbors, Poor School, Pagoda, Monotract, and Mouthus. In February 2006, Ecstatic Peace signed a deal with Universal Records to distribute the label's albums in North America and in 2007 signed a deal with Cargo Records to distribute the label throughout the UK and Europe. Interested candidates should contact internship@ecstaticpeace.com. No phone calls or myspace messages please. |

Being an intern for the guy that looks like a perma intern? Cool enough.

|
you could steal records, if you think its not worth it...
|
ahh yes thats a fair point
|
Free records, fuck yeah.

wahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ME |
me too.
|
bit silly mentioning SY in the advert
Now they're gonna get loads of fanBoys turning up sketching Thurston's trainers or record bags, stealing records, staring dreamily at the new FreeKitten flexidisc and not doing any work. Thats the trouble with Indepandant record labels, no business sense |
he should let me run it
|
he should just let it go into the hands of the SYG board, and everything would be fine....

article on latest SOMA mag -
http://trendmag.trendoffset.com/publisher/somamag/SOMA_Magazine/issue2/magazine.php?mag=SOMA_Magazine&page=&type=2&logo=0 &issueid=3926 seems kind of lazy article, though. If you write something like "There's no denying the fiercely overused 'freak folk' term" why would you even use it? it just galls me because in 2003 mv organized the FREE FOLK festival, but the massmedia likes to use the disparaging freak folk. And "it totally rules" is true regarding EP#1 but it is terrible writing, I mean SOMA isn't a fanzine, its supposed to be a legtimate product. I thought Awesome Color were FROM MICH but live now in Brooklyn - and Majik Markers, aren't really located anywhere these days - I always think of them as a CT band. |
