Affordable vinyl pressing plants in London
I haven't had much luck today trying to find one on the internet, do you know of any? The only one that I thought was vaguely suited for what I'm after is based in Hackney. I'm sure that there is one or two out there, somewhere. Any input much appreciated, thanks.

there's a place off mare street called sound solutions that do vinyl pressings, not sure how their prices compare to whatever though.
what are you pressing up? |
define affordable.
also, i know plenty of people in the uk prefer to press their vinyl either in the u.s. or in other european countries, so that kinda tells me it's not really the most affordable places to make vinyl. still, good luck. |
yeah, i was going to say it's probably cheaper to get it done abroad, maybe try emailing a london based independent label that does vinyl to find out how they do it, e.g. Bo' Weavil

GZ Media in the Czech Republic might be a good way to go.
Not sure if you have to go through a middleman/broker if you're in the UK, but back when you didn't have to in the USA (no longer the case), it was cheaper than getting LPs produced domestically. Even with shipping! |
how many copies are you looking to have pressed?
|
Porky, I have a connection here who could probably set up for you. What's your budget? How many copies? What format? Details... and I'll give a price quote, with my percentage on top of that.

The reason I want a London plant to press vinyl has to do purely with a personal control thing that involves how the artwork would have to look.

The U.S.A are so cheaper.

Nearly everyone I know who's pressed a record in the last 6-7 years have gone to this company. I was looking at getting records pressed a while ago, and you'll save a cuntload going overseas for small quantities. I think dance 12"s (of the back-of-a-Cortina Grime sort) tend to come from Hackney or Manchester, but I don't think that's what you're after. |

This company isn't bad at all. |

If you're doing 7", these guys do a good deal, and as little as 100 copies if you want (maybe even less... ). They're based in Germany, run a DIY-kind of pressing plant, and are very friendly folk. I recently did a 7" for my band over there and everything went v smoothly. |
hey people.
Has nothing to do with "affordability", but it's about vinyl, it's London, and it's a nice vid I had no idea where to put (not worth making a thread just for it). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgY6JtQYg9M interesting. |
