Glice 08.10.2008 05:11 PM

Weezer? First album - alright, second - great, third - dire, subsequently - average.

I'm stuck otherwise.

acousticrock87 08.10.2008 05:11 PM

Fugazi

Glice 08.10.2008 05:20 PM

Oooh - Can. Perfect.

*No, actually quite wrong, because they were alright then good then amazing then ok then good then piddling.

HECKLER SPRAY 08.10.2008 05:49 PM

I think Radiohead fit into this category pretty well.

Pablo Honey - ridiculously bad
The Bands - a bit better
OK Computer - a very good album
Kid A - masterpiece
Amnesiac - bag of shite
Hail To The Thief - bag of shite
In Rainbows - a bit better

I think Kid A through Hail To The Thief are identical, quality-wise. HttT is less cohesive, but that's about it.

Kid A/Amnesiac are even from the same session.

_slavo_ 08.11.2008 03:33 AM

Yes, but the good songs were obviously put onto the first one, making it one of the landmark albums of the early 2000's. Amnesiac just doesn't work.
For me, of course.

acousticrock87 08.11.2008 03:38 AM

It's all personal opinion, of course; the two CDs are clearly different in a lot of ways.

But the band explicitly said that they didn't treat Amnesiac as a B-Side. Granted, they probably would have claimed that anyway so the CD got respect, but I actually strongly prefer Amnesiac. I assume they picked the most focused songs for Kid A, the ones that fit together the best, because it does (except for National Anthem, which I've never thought should be on that). I just don't think the songs are qualitatively better or worse.

Ramones:
Ramones-Road to Ruin - good
Early 80s - worse
Too Tough to Die - better
After that - not so good

Only on the sonic youth board would people try to honestly reply to a joke thread.

Derek 08.11.2008 07:39 AM

bands that were good then got worse then were average and then got good again and then went on a slow decline, reformed after a few years, got good again but then got bad and died
