Albums put out twice under different names

Like REPLICAS. The original vinyl was released by Tubeway Army. But now the CD reissues say Gary Numan.

Lots of other examples of this. Think of some good ones.

Didn't the Ramones basically release their first album under different guises around 14 times?

Rob Instigator 08.20.2008 01:39 PM

the first Cure album was cut up and sent to USA as Boys Don't Cry

noisereductions 08.20.2008 01:42 PM

No not album TITLE being renamed, I meant the band name being changed. Like in the REPLICAS example it was originally a full band name, but later considered a Gary Numan solo album. Still same album title.

I think the same thing happened with Bowie's Tin band didn't it?

gmku 08.20.2008 01:51 PM

You're really reaching for the obscure ones today, no?

noisereductions 08.20.2008 01:58 PM

Uh-huh.

noisereductions 08.20.2008 01:59 PM

I know Bonnie Prince Billy has pulled some crap like that. Re-releasing his albums under diff. names. (Palace _____, etc).

Caribou first albums were released as Manitoba, and then re-released as Caribou.

Animal Collective two first albums were originally released as "Avey Tare and Panda Bear" and "Avey Tare, Panda Bear and The Geologist"

noisereductions 08.20.2008 02:34 PM

Good call Son! My version of START BREAKING MY HEART was the Manitoba release. Forgot about that one! And yeah those early Animal Collectives slipped my mind as well.

noisereductions 08.20.2008 02:35 PM

Common's first 2 albums were released as Common Sense, but then some reggea band sued him so he dropped the 'Sense'

SYRFox 08.20.2008 03:10 PM

Muse albums were first released as über shit and then... oh wait, they're still über shit actually

Pookie 08.20.2008 03:15 PM

Was Dinosaur's first album re-released as Dinosaur Jr?

I don't really care.

Savage Clone 08.20.2008 03:18 PM
