there is a really highly rated Ethiopian restaurant called Etete a block from the 9:30 Club (which is right at the edge of Little Ethiopia), i have not yet ventured down there, but i intend to at some point
!@#$%!, had you eaten there before? |
I love Ethiopian food. Probably tied with Indian as my favorite foreign cuisine. There's a place in Portland called Queen of Sheba I really like. I used to get it at several different places in Seattle when I lived there.

Ethiopian food has been a staple of my families dining ever since my older brother did a report on Ethiopia back in junior high or whenever. Also know of this great Ethiopian restaurant and jazz club place.

I didn't even know they had food in Ethiopia.

Goat curry & Injera (with Ethiopian beer for sipping) = East African Win!
|
This has by far been the most positive thread about Ethiopia yet, food is very unifying.

you are spoiled! do you make it at home or restaurant hop? I only get to eat at Church, but that is best, homecooked with love! Yesterday I ate at the priests' table, the best! Quote:
There are many Ethiopians in Seattle. The Patriarch, His Holiness Abuna Merkerios lives there, as well as His Grace the Archbishop of the Western Hemisphere Abuna Zena Markos. ![]() ![]() Saint Gebriel's Ethiopian Orthodox Church in Seattle, seat of His Holiness and His Grace I've also had breakfast with Abune Zena Markos, he is absolutely charming. |
There's a few places locally that do ace Goat curry at low low prices. And when I lived in London there were a handful of lush places. I'm not usually a fan of lentils and the like, but those Ethiopians know what they're doing with 'em.

speaking of which while running this morning I ran into a lovely Ethiopian couple, and elderly gentleman and his wife who were also going for a morning stroll. I had seen them in passing before, but I was driving by and could not meet them, however I took this opportunity this morning, and made new Ethiopian friends in my own neighborhood! It will be SUCH A TREAT to get homecooked Ethiopian food next door rather then an hour and a half on the rails! I was just saying to myself how I need to find some local ethiopians to get some good dinner around here! |
