any British Sea Power fans?
anyone like them?
I'm seeing them in October. Listened to the Decline Of again today and its such a great record. The new one's got some good bits too |
I've seen them a few years ago with Hairy Butter at the ICA. They were horrendous.
|
Saw them live at a festival around 2003 and was completely blown away, though the heady cocktail of intoxicants I had consumed may have helped that - certainly none of the 5 or 6 times I've seen them since has been anywhere near it.
Loved the first album too, but again, everything after that has been, at best, extremely mediocre. A real disappointment. |
i saw them play 6 or 7 years ago and i thought they were rubbish, although they did have some quite good on-stage decor, stuffed owls if i remember right

I know what you mean, when a debut is so strong it makes it hard for the follow-ups. That said, there are some stunning moments on the new one which sort of make up for the last album (it wasn't bad at all, its got some amazing songs on it but it diodn't live up to The Decline Of..) |
I saw their circus antics at a festival about 5 years ago, which was great for a laugh.

i prefer the irish wind turbine company

Nah, it was just plain awful really. Completely stripped out all the peaks and troughs that made The Decline Of good and just left a bland morass in it's place. I listened to the 3rd one a couple of times, but to me, that just sounded like they were consciously trying to revisit the sound of the debut but it just ended up sounding forced. |
I saw them in 2003 open for another band I don't remember the name of - edit it was Interpol - and indeed thought they were awful...

well they were fucking awsome
loud and powerfull and ended with a big long noise jam. wonderful |
