matador?
fuck, if there was ever a label i didnt like. i was thinking maybe they were gonna sign to troubleman unlimited, which is a fairly big indie label, and one that puts out wierd noise/no wave stuff like the luttenbachers, and wolf eyes and hair police and stuff, as well as more conventional indie rock. considering sonic youth as a general rule has always been right inbetween those genres, it woulda been a perfect match. it wuda been REALLY rad if they went way off the deep end and signed to skin graft or savage land or something and started making nihilist noise punk again. either way, its better than geffen. cant bitch too much.

matador suits the current sound and popularity of the band pretty well i'd say.
stop moaning. ;) |
yeah the band is too big for troubleman. i knew it was either going to be matador or sub pop.
|
i thought after starbucks they would go to hershey's chocolate.
|
troubleman unlimited is one of the shittiest labels ever.
not their roster, but their business practice. dude will be lucky if he doesn't end in jail. |
Sub Pop would have been cool though.
|
Whoah, Matador has like 5 of my favourite bands on it? They're my favourite label that isn't Warp.

that doesnt mean shit to me. i know im bitching about something really random and lame. i just think itd be rad if sonic youth went waaaay underground again. i mean, thurston and crew hang around with people that are way younger and make way more extreme music, and its pretty clear from the side projects and solo lps, noise is what their digging on right now. but i guess thats what divides sonic youth from thier other projects, sonic youth is a rock band first and foremost, which i guess i woulndt want any different. ill shut up now. side note about labels? is bulb still around? i think i missed a memo because they were putting out a wealth of great records in late 90s, early 00's, now, nothing. |
doesn't mean shit to you? remember that when you don't get your orders or money back, or when they don't send the records to the stores and all you get in return is insults.
think about it, most bands on troubleman are jumping ship for a reason. |
i never really liked troubleman anyway. i actually forgot that the label existed until this thread, but i only pay attention to havoc records anymore.
|
they should have gone to Sympathy. i think their status has outgrown sftri's though.
|
A label's just a label.
I don't really like most bands on Matador to be honest. It could be worse, they could've signed to saddle creek. |
What's the deal? I doesn't really matter what label they put it out on, as long as it's got good distribution.
|
Maybe batreleaser doesn't like Matador's logo. He 'd prefer a big skull on the next Sonic Youth record, it would look much indie-noisy death metal.
|
I think Matador is a very "safe" label releasing mostly crappy bands, but hey Sonic Youth's last album was really safe and crappy. So, it makes sense.
|
I don't have a single problem with Matador.
|
Me either. A label's just a label like I said. But I'm being uh.. topical, I guess. Hah.
|
Eh, I like Yo La Tengo but that's about it from their roster.
|
they should sign with... they should... no they should go to this label!
but who the fuck cares ? just realese good album sy . ! |
Are Sub Pop still going?
Come to think of it, are SFRTI still going? Blimey. |
