Good pick! I'd say she's more soulful than girly-pop. She was involved with Stevie Wonder for a bit. "Your Kiss Is Sweet" is a classic.

There's a lot of girls coming out of this country at the moment making sweet 'indie' pop, wearing their cute dresses and singing about Laundromats and boys. Sounds naff but it's tons better than most of the guys with their 'indie' dribble.
