I dunno, I think it's been better in the past few weeks than it has been in the past few monthes- it went through a phase (when I plainly refused to post) of infantile rubbish, which is perceived by those responsible to be "funny", when in reality it transforms what is largely and engaging and intelligent forum into a pathetic playground for a bunch of sad and painfully lonely men.

Not gonna lie, this is just a distraction/time filler for me. I cant really get myself to put much energy into my time here XD

Plus I'm always wary of posting things because of the elitism that runs rampant here.

The continuous spilling of irrelevant msn messanger chats into threads, often turned into threads as such.

The meagre amount of threads about new and exciting artists, heavily outnumbered by the amount of half-baked opinions by posters who are much more narrow-minded than they think they are. And worse still, mouths opened before ears.

Whinge threads/attention-whoring threads that at first sight offer to be your friend, when in fact they hide the seed of a very low self-esteem.

The continuous and tiresome 'attempt' at humour, often causing such a stale stench on your clothes you need to shower after logging out.

The blatant and disarming stupidity of some daily comments, often ornated by handicapped smileys more suited to disabled fingers than perfectly capable ones.

i find this board just as exciting as when i first joined. i'm not saying if that's a good or bad thing.

It has been toned down lately I guess, but there has been a lot of people using the message board to assert their need to berate which I assume they are too lame to be able to do in real life.

I think there is. Yr not one of the perpetrators, though. There's a handful of snobs that think they're cooler than the rest of us because they were already listening to _______ when the rest of us were in diapers. But for the most part I just ignore that kind of shit. I try not to be a jerk or feed into anything too petty. I love this board.

yea i haven't caught on to it either. even if there was, elitism doesn't bother me. i find it funny actually.

people will always melt-down and leave. most come back. either with a new user-name or simply just to lurk. message boards ebb and flow like that; but without a continuous supply of new blood, they tend to get clannish and the threads become inbred.

currently, we are witnessing a waning e-interest in Sonic Youth. the effect is a higher ratio of porn_spamers and stalker_fanboys (who are both like the message board equivalent to the cosmic constant), as opposed to somebody who might eventually have interesting things to say.

the new album should bring an influx of posters, but in the meantime, feel free to tell a friend (I would suggest downplaying the extreme_cuntestry though).
