people should not be able to vote to remove someone's rights. it is a legal case not something that should have been put to vote. imho.
are all the marriages which happened previous to the reversal now anulled? |
There is controversy over that...or at least I haven't heard the exact answer for it.
Yeah, I agree that it shouldn't have been put up to a vote. I mean, we've learned pretty repeatedly that the ballot box tends to be pretty discriminatory. We needed Brown v. Board and Loving v. Viriginia to protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority. Putting the rights of black people or hispanic people up to a vote would not ever fly, but gay and lesbians it did, and it was wrong. |
