I think 50 Cent was shot, but he didn't shoot anyone.

Obviously, 50 Cent would not advertise it if he shot someone. He isn't going to include that in his official media bio. But, in reality I have no reason to believe he didn't. He came up in a rough spot and ran with the rough kids. Maybe 'twas a robbery, maybe self-defense, who knows. Carrying guns isn't a huge deal to folk in those spots and pulling the trigger can become just another thing to get by.

I think the main reason this guy got busted is because he was a big enough dumb ass to say the name of the guy he shot. Seriously, how fucking stupid do you have to be to do that?
