i'm a big frusciante fan. and im pretty excited for this album. it's just a bummer that he might not tour. i hope he changes his mind. josh kilinghoffer, flea and johnny marr are in the album.

i dig it. the solo and keyboards are pretty psychedelic. so is the album cover

i am a fan too but as of yet he just hasn't topped t-shirt

totally disagree, smile was average compared to t-shirt. water i would put above smile and the internet only album he released i would also put above smiles. i don't think there is anything that compares to the genius of t-shirt.

smile from the streets you hold is one of the best albums ever in my opinion. a complete dive into the darkest realms of our minds. nearly all music has pretense but I don't feel like Smiles has any, it's just so real.

t-shirt does that to an extent, but obviously not to that level.

so yeah, I disagree fully with terminal pharmacy. t-shirt is still amazing though, some beautiful melodies on that.

and with that said, I'm definitely excited about the new record. hope it's as good as Curtains.

The album leaked and I'm here to tell you that it kicks ass.

This guy is a genius.

It's officially released next week I think (it got pushed back a week according to his myspace).

yeah smile from the streets you hold (thanks derek!) is one of the best albums ever.

I only own "to record only water for ten days" and its a god of an album, at least for me

Smile is a weird album. Some of my friends get it, some think it's unlistenable shit. Perception is a weird thing.

He's never made a bad album actually, apart from Shadows Collide With People which is produced like a RHCP album.

Oh and Adam, check out his other drug period album Niandra Lades & Usually Just A T-shirt. I think it would be right up your alley. 10 or so straight lo-fi songs and then 15 tracks of sound collages with amazing backwards guitar sounds.

as a side note... river pheonix is on a track, i think it is untitled 11 from memory.

River Phoenix wasn't on that album I'm sure. He is on the tracks Well I've Been and Height Down which are both on Smile. They were meant to be on Niandra Lades but were taken off by request of Phoenix's family because he had just died a short time before.

Yea, hes the man like that. To me hes one of the most "real" artists around.

How in the world could you humiliate Shadows like that? its a beautiful, crisp, masterpiece. the production sounds similar to By the Way because i think it was made around that same time and he was the main creative, composing force on By the Way...idk thats just me

Have you ever listened to Spere in the Heart of Silence? or any Ataxia? thats also some good quality Frusciante and company

I fux with them too :)) i think my obsession with them has developed into a Frusciante obsession over time though lolz

It's his most boring album.

I just got empyrean and it is completely confirmed John is a genius... album is truly amazing and in my opinion best since tshirt. i know tha statement some will disagree with but we can all agree on how good empyrean is in.

fifty *'s, ten times better than any five* album......
