odawas

anyone listen to them? I found them by looking through jagjaguwar's roster (which by the way also hosts underrated songsmith Richard Youngs... who played bass for Jandek for all you Jandek fans!) and I'm really liking them so far.

sort of an epic folky type band with lots of beautiful melodies

The Ice is my favourite song on there.

Wow, snow fertilization starts out just like a residents song ("title in limbo"-era). Excellent guitar tones. I really appreciate the minimalism. Gets better as it goes along even though it doesn't change music.

Allen Ginsberg... song is excellent! These guitar tones are amazing! Reminds me of icicles falling. In a way, it's like a simplified Branca ("World Upside Down" era). Really shocked by this one, great song, could have used some better production as the loud parts are reeeeeeeeally loud and harsh. But like you said, it's your first time doing this stuff and you don't know what you're doing haha. Thumbs up.

Neuromancer starts out sort of like a Residents song again. I'm just waiting for that dude's voice to come in............ Is this toy piano? It has to be. I don't really know what instruments I'm hearing, they sound really cool though. Reminds me of some of the soundtrack to Paranoia Agent. Really childlike melodies. Okay, the acoustic guitar just came in like a raging beast. Surprised by how calm and gentle it was.

Good stuff.

heh thanks! didn't expect such a response.

and yeah, allen ginsberg one is a bit harsh on the loud bits possibly due to my reverb unit being VERY sensitive to touch but I have a compressor somewhere that I uhhh don't know how to work. aha.

And it is indeed a toy piano sound you are hearing through several effects.

Again, thanks!

No problem.

Yesterday I worked on a new Robe. song with Kyle, I think it turned out pretty well, the whole background is a 10 second loop of feedback that I very subtely digitally effected and made 50 different wavs of it and put different delays and pitches on them to give the illusion that the piece is moving or changing... then we put some doomy bass over top. I think you'd dig:

yeah, I dig it. I just love big walls of sound.

I actually really admire Robe., you guys are extremely prolific.
