How does Cronenberg sleep at night?
Some of the most fucking disturbing movies come out of this guy.
I just watched the Fly for the first time. I'm pretty shook up. I now feel the need to watch some cartoons to bring me to a happier place. |
he's mot that bad. i have seen worse and darker stuff from other people. david fincher makes all his films look pretty bleak but then again i like that.

Rob Zombie makes some fucked up movies.

How does Cronenberg sleep at night? On a big pile of money, surrounded by models.
|
THE only reason I'm trying to wiggle into showbiz!
|
^^^Hell, is there any other reason to break into the 'biz?
|
no, there is not.
and lord knows i love models |
David Fincher's films aren't disturbing at all. They look like high-class music videos by a high-class music video director. The obvious exception being Se7en which has an amazing atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, I love his films, but they aren't really all that dark.
For truely disturbing cinema, trust one name (and he's not a good director at all -- but his stuff is disturbing): Andrey Iskanov. Also, a lot of Fulci films have given me an uneasy feeling... I'd say, yeah, for a "mainstream" director, Cronenberg definitely has a lot of terrifying images. |
He sleeps by being awesome. That's how.

On a bed of mutating, horrible flesh in his fluid-filled, membranous cocoon.
<<< look at kitty face |
it's a combination of just a horribly tragic story-
guy falls in love, guy starts to die, lover has to put him out of his misery combined with some truly horrifying images of self decay throw in the pregnancy scene and you've got a very disturbing movie Dead Ringers was similarly disturbing. |
Cronenberg rules
Romero rules Lynch rules Carpenter rules -- Pbradley avatar's does not rule |
EDIT: In a rare act of self-I-don't-want-to-argue-about-the-same-thing-we've-argued-about-beforeness.

Haha. True.

How does anyone with any conscience sleep at night in this world?
|
Drugs, ignorance, moral relativism, more immediate things to be worrying about...
