is going so well, these are my kids here, they have a performance coming up for Timket, 4000-6000 crowd minimum.

yr kids are braver than I.

this is the third year they have done it. though they are going to try a drama this year, we'll see how it goes.

both of my folks are teachers, and I can totally relate to people who are onto their job and make great efforts for their classes.

many Ethiopians might agree, it was Emperor Haile Selassie I who first demanded that Ethiopians acknowledge themselves as "black" because of their common African experience, where as before, traditional Ethiopian identity makes a distinction between the highland "Habasha" and the more southernly "shanqelle" (blacks)...

in the US for the kids in the diaspora it has been quite the identity crisis, the one drop rule makes them black men, women and youth, where as their clear cultural distinctions from the typical black american experience make it hard to relate with black folks..

that must be hard for US etiopians...

as we rasta say "all those careless Ethiopians, shall go down to Babylon, I'll tell you about those careless Ethiopians, my people dont go down inna Babylon.. and I wouldn't like to be there, inna their number"

my purpose in the Ethiopian community is to be a constant reminder that they should go back home to Ethiopia.
