GED
anyone here have a GED?
i have been thinking about taking the test this fall. do the people that have it suggest it, or regret it? i would go to community college for about a year then transfer to 4 year i think. i dont know, just thinking about that alot lately. |
I wouldn't reccomend it. The tests are easy as shit and employers look as it as a sign of laziness.
Yeah, better to not get one. It doesn't matter anyway. You can be more successful than anyone with multiple college degrees these days. Education doesn't matter at all.
although, i really fucked up the first two years of high school.
so getting into college all ill have on my transcripts are these two years which may not be real credible... |
My first year of high school was terrible. This last year was decent but not great(3.918 overall GPA). I am gonna work my ass of in PSEO.
so i was looking at this college, oregon institute of technology. a good looking city in a great school, for GEDs you must get +75% plus good SAT scores. im certain i can do that, im a great test taker and have plenty of knowlage on the subjects and could probaly get straight A's if i tried but i just slack off on homework.
so im thinking about going to community college for a year or two then transfer to this place. ill atleast look into it, talk to my parents about it. |
That doesn't seem too hard. I could easily do 75%+ on a test.
I pretty much fucked up my first two years of high school by missing a lot and not doing any work so I think my GPA is 1.39 or something. My future looks very grim right now.
oh wow, i didnt fuck up that bad. i have like a 2.5
I had a 2.2 the first year.
Ownage.
Haha. Owned us by being a complete dumbass.
It's quite the sad position to be in, no?
Yeah. Terribly sad.
Fucking idiot. |
i do fine in everything but algebra. algebra is bullshit and im taking algebra 1B for the third time next year
I have a ged but I also have my high school diploma, I only got it because it would shorten my time of taking too many classes. So it is up to u but since u have an 2.5 it doesn't really matter.
In all honesty, when I hear GED, I think infomercials, mullets, squirrel-hunting, and neglected dental work.
For the love of god, stay in school. |
If it makes you guys feel any better about your GPA's, I was an AP student, scored very high on the ACT, and I make less money than my friend who dropped out of high school but is good with computers.
I am not remotely well-off. I do agree with truncated about the GED thing though. Golden Child: see if your high school allows you to take college classes on a college campus for simultaneous high school and college credit. My school offered that, but didn't really let anyone know. Had I known about that, I would have had 2 years of college under my belt by the time I was 17, and I would not have had to deal with the ridiculous high school enviroment (aka My Own Personal Hell) for two unneccessary years. This is a far better route if it's available to you. Check into it. |

You're not stupid. Anyone with an IQ above retardation can get at least average grades in high school. Anyone who doesn't is either lazy, has a learning disability, or some other serious problem or disease. I'm assuming that this is a minority, and you aren't in it. |
