How come I never see this album come up in top whatever lists? One of the strongest modern metal releases I've heard in a long time, it breaks tons of new ground for CF and works as one of the best Swansongs I've ever heard from a band.

Alternatively, any other remotely close bands/albums I could check out? Wolves In The Throne Room kind of reminded me of them but that's about it.

I really like this album a lot, and seeing them do it live was a life-affirming experience.

Definitely do! I haven't seen them live yet, but I love Two Hunters. I was supposed to see them open for Boris, but Nachtmystium ended up opening instead. That said, Nachtmystium are great as well!

yeah, monotheist is pretty cool, right where they left off almost fifteen years before.

it's on my top of 2006 list (it remains unpublished though).

tons of modern black metal and black/doom metal takes their cue from cf. leviathan's massive conspiracy against all life comes to mind, as well as both of striborg's 2008 albums.

i like listening to kraftwerk.
