The first side of Vampire Weekend's debut album is great. Just sayin'

'Mindless Self Indulgence' is a sort of funny name sat on by a terrible metal band.

MSI, I have so many friends that like that shit but I just find it annoying.

Eagles of Death Metal's first album was ace.

Maybe I should clarify on this one...the band themselves aren't that bad, but it's not what I'd choose to listen to. Their name isn't really the first thing that would come to mind in describing the band's sound, either...maybe that's the idea, but it doesn't work for me.

The Editors could have been a cool name for a band...

but... Animal Collective.

The reason i checked them out in the first place was because of the name.

It's hard to separate a band's name from what I've so firmly associated it with. Like, I'm assuming I would like the name "Incubus" in a vacuum, but by now the word just looks like Brandon Boyd touching himself.

On a related note, I genuinely like Death Vessel, but it's perhaps the most deceptive band name ever.

Oh yeah and Incubus sounds like it should've been an 80s deathrock band playing with 45 Grave or something. Wasn't there another band that went by that name at one point, maybe in the 60s or 70s? I might be wrong.

The fuck? Mindless Self Indulgence aren't metal in the LEAST. In fact, they're the most non-metal band I can think of in recent memory. And "Tight" is an amazing record.

The best band name/worst band goes to sunburned hand of the man as always.

Haha! Yeah! Sorta becase it sounds like 'Death Metal'. I really like the name though, and the band. It was like a year or so before I realised that singer was a dude.

Their songnames throw you off, too. 'Nothing Left To Bury', 'Bruno's Torso', 'Deep In The Horchata'..
