Music that makes you dumb
Griffith used aggregated Facebook data about the favorite bands and books among students of various colleges and plotted them against the average SAT scores at those schools, creating a tongue-in-cheek statistical look at taste and intelligence.
![]() I know the SATs aren't really reflecting intelligence.. just thought it was cool to share |
according to this i should be into norah jones, phish, and the shins...ack...haha people who listen to disturbed are smarter than people who listen to aerosmith
|
man, smart people must dig sufjan stevens a lot
|
oh please...
|
It would be more accurate if they found out how they get the music. If they buy, download, listen to the radio, etc. That would (maybe) construct a theory.
|
More accurate? Dude, it's not accurate at all. It's very tongue in cheek and just based on minor stats. It's something you're meant to have a laugh about and then make reference to it as a joke when arguing futile points. Don't take the internet so seriously, you'll be a happier person for it.

HAHAHA
I laughed at the fact that the Counting Crows are so high |

Talking of being dumb - what exactly are the numbers at the top and bottom supposed to refer too?

music that makes you dumb in a good way; nautical almanac, runzilstern and gurgelstock, prick decay

According to this, I didn't take the SAT. Also, am I color-blind or is Beethoven listed as "Indie" music?
|
Misc and Indie are like the same colour I think.

That makes ZERO fucking sense. All those damn pastel colors. |
Every time I read these threads I hate music and myself in general. Partly it's my fault, but you also need to take responsability for being stupid. I don't know why, but I want you to die.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers are in the upper half. That alone renders any possible interpretations null & void, however tenuous.
|
Why is Greenday higher than jazz?
|
Isn't this based on what the individual says they like? So, a broad genre probably says the individual isn't too decisive, or interested, in a specific band, indicating a lack of concentration. So saying they like a single band shows they can fixate on one thing, or concentrate clearly, or make decisions.
This is a faint interpretation based on a non-empirical study. Happy internetting! |
