violent vancouver

its pretty much getting the wild west over here at times. at one point the other week in one seven hour period there where nine reported shootings.

Danny Himself 03.18.2009 07:47 PM

hastings street is a nightmare.

jon boy 03.18.2009 07:51 PM

its not hastings, its surrey and places like that but also where i live near downtown. there was a kidnapping a week ago and shooting the week after that. mostly its targeted gang stuff but when two cars are driving around a petrol station with the drivers shooting at each other then it gets kinda scary.

Danny Himself 03.18.2009 07:56 PM

bloody hell. i haven't been since 2006, but it was bad enough then. yikes. stay safe man.

its a shame isn't it.. it gets even worse, eventually everyone just comes to except a dozen or more shootings a day as normal and common place and we all get back to our daily routines whenever we hear the shots pop off.. its fucking ridiculous the level of apathy that develops... :(

in the city of Los Angeles (JUST THE CITY, NOT INCLUDING TO COUNTY)

since December 21, 2008 there have been 583 shootings, and 282 people shot (its playing out to be a very wild year, at this rate there will be a 25-30% increase from shootings last year)

from December 21, 2007-December 20, 2008 there were 711 shootings and 333 people shot.

:(

talk about the wild wild west..

Yeah, take it from me man, Surrey is one meeeaaaan-ass place to live. Nobody walks the whole way along Guildford high street with their limbs still intact:

and make sure you carry your dental records on you for your cindered corpse to be identified if you go anywhere near Godalming:

The Godalming Anti-Violence Vigilante Security Force out on patrol yesturday. They are our last chance of security, now...

And here are the cruel mob-bosses of my own ghetto, Surbiton:

My boyfriend is moving out there in about 2 weeks, and I will be on my way eventually. Perfect timing to hear this, although I knew it's been bad.

I'd almost rather relocate to Victoria.

flophousefloozie 03.19.2009 06:04 PM

True, but it's beautiful, and rains less. Plus, it's only a ferry ride away from Vancouver...

yeh its very pretty but i dont think it rains less?

flophousefloozie 03.20.2009 01:13 PM

Actually, I was curious enough to look it up, and apparently, Vitoria's annual percipitation is 608 mm, whereas Vancouver's is 1219 mm.

Accoring to Wikipedia, it's also the sunniest place in Canada, besides the southern prairies. I certainly didn't know that..

alteredcourse 03.20.2009 01:49 PM

Vancouver's got no more crime than any other major city, we're just not used to the recent commotion I guess.

This Is Not Here - are you posting those pictures becuase you know there is a Guildford, Surrey near vancouver?

Chris Lawrence 03.20.2009 05:11 PM

flophousefloozie 03.22.2009 12:24 AM
