Multiple Choice, for you indecisive music-lovers.

I personally cannot choose one over another (although Sol Invictus and Nurse probably rank somewhat below the other three).

Coil were one of the most amazing bands ever.

i'd go with Nurse With Wound.

Definitely Coil. Nurse With Wound is definitely the worst in that list...

Unfortunatelly i'm not familar with Sol Invictus and most of Coil's work, but i highly doubt that NWW are worse than Death In June.

Sol Invictus are worse than Nurse With Wound. Overall Death In June are worse than NWW too.

edit: Perhaps I chose too quickly. I do love all of them, except for Sol Invictus (which never really did anything for me.)

Coil, NWW and C93 are basically the same. They even share personnel.

coil were great when i saw them but the records i've heard do nothing for me, nww and c93 i find quite dull and the other two i have no real interest in hearing, not least because of the neo nazi links.

Coil definitely. I go on Coil binges sometimes.

prick decay. coil is a band i cant stand, like nww and love current 93 though. but when it comes to british experimentalism, im into nyoukis/chocolate monk, smell and quim, phil todd, neil cambell, mattew bower, richard youngs. love all that shit dearly, and those dudes can all get spooky quite a bit, except for maybe cambell his noise is more like a joyful/spiritual thing.

im not really sure why i never liked coil, they just didnt sound all that great to me. i respect them though for sure.

I prefer Richard Youngs' acoustic stuff rather than his experimental records.

Well that's true of NWW and C93 (Tibet can pretty much be considered a part of Death in June as well), but I was under the impression that Coil had pretty distinct members aside from some minor collaborations with the other acts.

Anyway, I find that they each have quite a distinct sound, even when the sound is/was constantly changing.

I appreciate NWW very much, but can only listen to him/them in smaller doses it seems.

As for the neo-Nazi stuff, while they hardly preach white-supremacy, DIJ and Invictus do use lots of symbolism in the music. However, it does not bother me as I separate the music from the content.

(I do the same with an act like The Coup whose music I find entertaining and humorous, even though I don't necessarily agree with their Commie manifestos)

The only way an act would turn me off is if they were blatantly inciting people to commit violence out of hatred in their music.

Last I checked, Tony Wakeford had married a Jewish lady.

And Douglas P would make a pretty poor Nazi, what with the outwardly gay thing and all.

I like all these musicians a lot. I don't think NWW are too scary though. Some of that music is downright hilarious.

And anyone doubting Douglas P's sense of humor need only look at the cover of "All Pigs Must Die."

I have loved hearing the evolution of all of these musicians throughout all of their extremely variable phases and whims. I can't pick a favorite really. I guess Current 93, NWW and Coil have produced the most varied and musically interesting output, but DIJ and Sol Invictus are both great, if musically very simple.

the other thing about DIJ & sol invictus is i imagine them to sound like c93, and that puts me off checking them out. i'm not against listening to them, but i'm not that intrigued by what i've read about them either. anyway, i remember when this subject came up before and melly confirmed the there is such a thing as a gay nazi.

DIJ sound nothing like C93, Douglas actually attempts to sing, something Tibet has never really done. And (at least on the albums I have) there's more instrumentation/flourishes on the standard DIJ album than the majority of C93.
Sol Invictus pretty much sound just like DIJ though.

Tony Wakeford of Sol Invictus actually was a member of Death In June near the beginning. I've read that he was booted due to serious neo-Nazi leanings which he has since abandoned (unless his marrying a jew is a trick to throw people off his scent).

So it would seem that Wakeford is a former and long-reformed skinhead.

Doug P. shall remain a mystery I suppose (although as I said before, Tibet of C93 frequently records and plays with DIJune, and I don't believe he's a Nazi lover).
