why do I keep getting automatically subscribed to threads
 

I dont understand? :confused:

once a week I have to clear out my subscribed threads.. none of which I chose to subscribe to.

There is an option to turn it off but I can't remember where...

there is nothing in the faq. but, in my options it has this;

Default Thread Subscription ModeWhen you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.
Do not subscribe No email notification Instant email notification Daily email notification Weekly email notification Default Thread Subscription Mode: *Do Not Subscribe*

it was already set to off.. and still, my subscriptions fill up.

I wish I knew the answer to this. it's seems really random. I assume that I have spastically clicked on something.

i didnt even know you could 'subscribe' to threads. why would you do this/what's the need?!
i only subscribe to fanzines i can get free mixtapes from.

i think the board automatically suscribes you to the threads on which you've posted a lot. at least, that's why i seem to have noticed.

Type "DO NOT SUBSCRIBE" at the beginning and end of every post; that should take care of it.

it's a function for boards that move faster than this one.

which is what makes me think that it's broken.

I keep getting subscribed to crap I rarely click. as if "post a picture of yourself" is going to fall past the second page. hell, once I was even subscribed to "thee mighty futball thread".

I'm glad I don't need to subscribe to keep up on things here. This used to be the only board I ever posted on, so I didn't realize how fast other boards go. I lose interest with other boards because you can reply to something, and 2 minutes later it's on page 10.

Plus, this place doesn't have admins that are constantly policing the place, closing threads and deleting posts and crap.

good: for the reasons you listed.

bad: to an outsider, "we" appear cliquish. (I say "we" because I post here, not because I consider myself friends with anyone, or part of any clique).

more bad: the less people there are, the more inbred it gets.

thankfully, I can withstand days upon days of the same people calling each other twats. it's not conducive to gaining new members though.

this, however, is clearly great

I subscribe to "interesting" threads with names hard to find with the search engine.
like sonic J U K E B O X etc.

Editing stuff that you've posted in a thread seems somehow to lead to subscription to it. Is what I've found.

EDIT - I do quite a lot of editing. For grammer, and speling.

Hey yeah, that thread needs a revival.

I had the same problem too with the subscriptions. I guess it happens when you click on one thread often or something.

that seems to make sense now.....
