A Question for the Ozzy Fans
Now that Ozzy seems to have fired Zakk Wylde, and given his reputation for working with great new guitarists, who should he take on to replace him? The rumour is that it's gonna be John 5 from White Zombie. Anyway, any thoughts?
|
Is Johnny 5 a great guitarist? I liked White Zombie, but he certainly never had to display any "skill" in most of those songs. Still, some awesome riffs. *EDIT* Wow, I never realized how prolific John 5 is! He even played with salt n pepa. SALT N PEPA!
It will probably be Wes Borland or that one dude who wears a lot of makeup or something, or that other guy. Or Zim Zum. Or HEAD or something. Haha. I'd like to see Seeichi Yamamoto play with Ozzy. |
Well I dunno if John 5 is a great guitarist or not. He (or, increasingly more realistically, Sharon) does usually pick quite interesting ones though, who at least tend to go on to become big and quite highly respected names in their own right.

Matt Pike.

Someone once told me that there's no such thing as morality, and that it was just a social construct to eliminate a person's willingness to do hideous things.
|
Are you implying that Ozzy is going to try and bring in Nietzsche as his next guitarist?

If only you were right. I actually wouldn't be all that surprised if Ozzy was up for someone like that. Can't see Sharon going for it though. |
It'll be some hot-shot young widdle merchant who won't be demanding to Ozzy/Sharon. I'll bet he has a brightly-coloured Flying V though.
The long odds would be on Jennifer Batten being employed. |
Jennifer Batten would at least be interesting. Can't see Sharon supporting another woman though.

John 5 didn't play in White Zombie. J. Yuenger (sp?) was the guitarist. Zim Zum might be a little too noisy for Ozzy. I think Head probably thinks Ozzy's going to hell. Somebody said Matt Pike...isn't he busy with High on Fire? Man, Dime's death has really fucked up Zakk Wylde...he went from minor asshole to major asshole and it's costing him his career... |
Sorry, he did indeed play with Rob Zombie, not White Zombie. I knew that, I was just uh.. well, I've been fucked up lately.
|
He aught to get Karl Precoda. Assuming he's still alive
|
John 5 IS a great guitarist, but he's a terrible writer. He does some very instrumentally impressive solo guitar albums, but when he plays with a rock band he just uses the same drop d guitar parts as everyone else does these days.

Ozzy was really great in Sabbath.

Feel bad for the guy. He's been in a bad way for a while. I've no idea how he's expecting to do the gigs he's postponed twice now. Even if he does do them I suspect he's going to be a shadow of himself.
Odd to think there's a thread about who's going to be Ozzy's new guitarist on here. |
When the Osbournes premiered on MTV in 2002, I recall Ozzy displaying mannerisms that mimicked Parkinson’s......that was almost 20 years ago.
If Ozzy can recover enough to possibly take the stage once again, perhaps a Vegas residency so he wouldn’t need to travel......but that’s not anything I would want to see. I last saw Ozzy at the Houston Summit in 92 on the No More Tours Tour. Almost 30 years ago, Ozzy was younger then than I am now. 01. Paranoid 02. I Don’t Want To Change The World 03. Desire 04. Mr. Crowley 05. I Don’t Know 06. Road To Nowhere 07. Flying High Again 08. Suicide Solution 09. Goodbye To Romance 10. Shot In The Dark 11. Miracle Man 12. War Pigs 13. Bark At The Moon 14. Mama I’m Coming Home 15. Crazy Train Alice In Chains opened, I remember them bringing a couch out on stage, pulling a few people from the audience to sit on the sofa during a song and then switching the individuals out for the next song. |
