One Hit Wonders
...right off the top of yr head...no cheating! I'll start:
Come on Eileen - Dixie's Midnight Runners ...apologizes if this has been done before...! |
You mean good one hit wonders?
All Along the watchtower- Jimi Hendrix.. Ok that's a technicality Dirty Water- Standells |
I didn't think of that, but yeah, GOOD one-hit wonders should definately be included! Thanks!
|
artsygrrl is rolling. The Grateful Dead actually only had one hit- Touch of Grey. Does that count?
|
Hell, yeah!
How about: 500 Miles - The Proclaimers ...right now all I can recollect are the ghastly ones. heehee |
Incense & Peppermints by Strawberry Alarm Clock
One of my all time favorite one hit wonders |
I read Nick Cave (with or without the Bad Seeds? I dunno). Only had one hit with "Red Right Hand".
|
Awesome! That reminds me of one I loved:
Time (has come today) - The Chambers Bros. |
See: Nuggets Vol. 1
You heard that set artsygrrl |
96 Tears by Question Mark and The Mysterions. Oh yeah 60s psychedelia.

"In a Manner of Speaking", the closest Tuxedomoon came to a hit.
Or Suburban Lawns' "Janitor"? Which isn't to say they're not great songs. |

Faith No More: "Epic"
Talk about injustice... Helmet: "Unsung" Talk about irony... |
100 Days by Flick ... Ignore the nonsense fan video as accompaniment.
Loved this song so much as a tot. Still do. Best chorus ever. |

OMG...I forgot about this one:
Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm - Crash Test Dummies Jeeeeez...nothing like loving my own damn thread...sorry. |
Here in the 'burgh we have a radio station called Bob FM. Their slogan is "We Play Anything", and they beat you over the head with it at every oppourtunity (sp?). Like when they come back from commerical, they say, "Now back to more playing anything". But in reality, all they play is the Top 40 of the past 25 years, and most of it is one hit wonders. Divinyls ("I Touch Myself"), EMF ("Unbelievable"), Nick Gilder ("Hot Child in the City"), the Proclaimers ("500 Miles"), New Radicals ("You Get What You Give"), etc.
Although, I wouldn't mind being a one-hit wonder. Think about it: You get about a year's worth of stardom, royalties out the ass, and eventually comedy writers pay you to use your name as the punchline to a joke. I'd prefer being a two-hit wonder, because it gives you legitimacy in the eyes of the music press... |
