Why do you people..
Seem to hate The Reverend Horton Heat.
They are an incredibly fun band. Great guitar playing, cool songs, amazing live show. And, best of all, absolutely no artsy pretense. What about that do ya'll hate so much? |

i've actually seen them a couple times. once at a hootenany/roackabilly festival show and once with social distortion. i was not impressed. just not my thing. i tend to like good music. ;) |
Ok, btw I don't really like them but I don't hate them too... I just don't give a fuck about them I guess...
|
They're not really my thing.. psychobilly and all that isn't really something I enjoy.. but really they're not a bad band. I had a buddy who was HUGE into them so I've heard quite a bit of their stuff. some of the guitar playing is cool!
|
As a Euro citizen I must say their pretty cool

Not really my thing, but I will agree that they have some awesome fucking guitar parts. They did this crazy cover of the theme from Johnny Quest that was epic. The guitar is sooooo cool on that.

(most) psychobilly is poo. to put it really, really lightly.
except the cramps. ... and, uh, the gun club. though i definitely wouldn't call them psychobilly. |
i know people disagree, but i wouldn't even consider the cramps psychobilly. i know they used the term themselves early on to describe what they were but
to me, psychobilly is/was stuff like the meteors, the guanabatz, demented are go. Those bands were definitely influenced by the cramps but they replaced the more sleazy side of the cramps with a kind of beery hedonism. Rev. Horton Heat have done the same thing and, while Lux Interior did claim that they were the closest allies to the cramps 'ideology', I just don't see it. |
