Newish Female-fronted/All Girl pop/rock bands.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Lately I've been listening to a lot of Sounds and Vivian Girls and would like to find some more bands kind of like these, but I'm having trouble.

Try the albums Souvenirs or How To Measure A Planet by The Gathering, they're amazing. but they dont sound anything like the 2 bands you mentioned lol

Good stuff so far everyone! Especially BruteHeart and Dum Dum Girls

How newish? If you haven't gotten into Bride of No No, that's probably one of the best female vocalists (Azita, also solo artist, also in Scissor Girls) in one of the craziest bands ever...
Fire on Fire (about 1/3rd of their songs; they have 5 vocalists, but the female one in particular is amazing) Mass Of The Fermenting Dregs Toddle Bleach'03 Danger?Gang! Inugami Circus Dan Personz Eu?phoria Chamonchy Clothoid+Doll Head Phones President Mosaic.wav Sonic Coaster Pop Plus-Tech Squeezebox Baal Rose de Reflicul et Guiggles Cross Cradle d[di] are all interesting. |
I'm not really keen on dredging up bands from the 80s/early 90s right now or anything too crazy/experimental/hard-to-find-stuff-by.

Two of my all time faves are eX-Girl and Afrirampo, both from Japan.
|
I just named some Japanese bands -- he ain't interested! Haha.

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. I saw them a few weeks ago, and it was a great show.
You might also like Thee Oh Sees, although I don't know if they count as newish. |

^ Yeah that record is great. Every project Number Girl spawned has been immensely enjoyable.
