I don't remember there being any particular fashion with burning condoms in the 70s. Burning condoms was a much more free-for-all thing than it is today.

AIDS was always too much of an 80s thing to really last much into the new millennium. Even condoms, all that latex, ended up being a bit too much like a Robert Palmer video.

I would be so happy if they found a cure! I'm incredibly paranoid about getting the disease.

y'all are so unnecessarily cynical sometimes. if this winds up leading to something that works, it will be absolutely incredible.

I don't think we will ever completely cure Aids or Cancer, and frankly in the grand scheme of the planet, I think that is how it is supposed to be. They are vicious diseases, but people are not meant to live forever.

Scientists may cure AIDS, but rest assured another virus will spring up and take its place. Either due to natural mutation or forced entry into civil life from the drug companies.
