Talk Show Host circa 2001
how could anyone hear this tune performed live and diss radiohead? That shit is brilliant! The guitar lick is fierce and haunting, the drum beat and bass line jazzy, the delay lead guitar is innovative and perfectly accents the vibe, the synth work just completes the whole thing adding a mix of ambient noise and even elegant piano work.. how could anyone diss radiohead as a live band? Who else can put such shit together in a performance so smoothly? Discuss:

I love E-bows on overdriven guitars. I should get myself one.

it is an amazing song.

I prefer to do it the old fashioned way, I can extend a note through vibrato as well as any e-bow, given a little reverb.. but the effect is perfect for the tune.. |
Radiohead are fucking awesome.
There. I said it. |
Actually, I'm listening to a few live things of Radiohead on youtube now - they are a really astonishingly brilliant band. It's almost a disappointment that they're not a proper pop band or, y'know, underground and shit.
And balls to it all, I've gone and agreed with Herr Dangérusue on something. |
radiohead are great, but i can't be the only one who thinks thom yorke sounds like a ringer for sting on that song.

wow, this is some seriously good stuff

Reminds me so much of my middle and high school years.
The whole of their Airbag/How Am I Driving? EP takes me back to my first handed-down car. |

And you said it well. |
It's an okay song, certainly better than anything on OK Computer or anything before that album. Kinda boring and bland but that's Radiohead's forté.
I hope this band releases something even half as good as Kid A again. |
Great song. I always have trouble believing it was a b-side for Street Spirit (nothing against Street Spirit, of course, but Talk Show Host doesn't sound like anything they were doing at the time at all.)
Come to think of it, a lot of the b-sides from The Bends were much better than the stuff that made the album. |

Same with Pablo Honey (duh). There were some neat little gems among B-Sides from that era. Maquiladora, India Rubber, Pop is Dead and Faithless the Wonder Boy, to name a few. |
I saw them live in 2003 and they were really great. GREAT stage lights too.
|
A little dull really.
|
Yeah, it's pretty boring. A few interesting things, but not enough to make the song for me
|
I dig. I was just listening to Ok Comp too just now.

Seconded (I saw them at Belfort that year). I think it's their best live period. |
Light shows shouldn't be the thing you're focusing on.
