Yeah, Nirvana are way better backwards. I think what helps is a lot of their music is fairly simple and straightforward and mostly midtempo (or a bit faster than that). I think you could probably reverse most things and they'd sound alright, but too fast/complex/crazy would just be kinda stupid and you'd miss the subtleties.

Smells Like Teen Spirit backwards used to be passed around as a Nirvana fake titled "Sorry Yesterday". I remember I recorded SLTS on a boombox with a toy guitar and ran it backwards and put it as "Sorry Yesterday" on my purevolume page (whoa, remember when people used that site?). Lemme see if I can find it...ah, found the SLTS I did. I'll just denoise it and run it backwards aaaannndd...StevOK - Sorry Yesterday
