Never get what all the fuss was about.
When I was 19, my math teacher told me Jimmy was the best, better than Husker Du, but I didn't believe him. Ha! |
Jimi is the best even if I don't like his records.
Oh yeah and that picture of Hendrix up there... why is he playing right-handed? |
Becuz he's the best.. Like you said

cuz the negative is probably flipped ;) though I have met quite a few lefties who can play both.. |
My favorite moment is at the end of "Machine Gun" when everything but Jimi's guitar cuts out and he blazes into some early free-form skronk.

I fell in love with Jimi when I was a kid. Not for his guitar trickery, 'cause that came later on, like I was in my mid teens when I realised that when I started watching his live stuff, but I love(d) his sense of melody from a young age. Stuff like Wind Cries Mary and most of the popular stuff.
Some of my first records were Hendrix records. Live at Woodstock, Live At Monterey - where he kicks into Rock Me Baby on the opening track from the lonnnng intro of guitar tuning and random noise. I also just dusted off Voodoo Soup which was a later relase from the label - it's his bluesy stuff like Belly Button Window etc - I remember loving all that so much as a kid. ... Yeah. |
i like the bit when he screws up in the bbcs filmed show on hey joe and goes "woah"....thats it really..

Unfortunately, I missed my favorite moment. It was 67 and he was playing the south shore music center here in MA. We had called and charged tickets the first day they went on sale or so we thought. We were told the tickets had to be picked up 48 hours before the show. Being naive 13 and 14 years old we waited till a week before the show and they informed us we had no tickets claiming they told us to pick them up 48 hours after ordering. Atleast that's what my friend's Mom said who had charged the tickets on her card. Me thinks it was a conspiracy of the parents. Anyways Jimi was Jimi and they pulled the plug on him cause he refused to stop playing. boo hoo
my greatest missed concert of all time. 2nd would be the 3 times I had Zep tickets and the shows got cancelled. |

Because that's NOT Jimi ! It's Randy Hansen !!! Jimi always spun a right-handed strat around so it was UPSIDEDOWN, not right side up... ![]() Sorry suchfriends, you should have known.. PWNED !!!!!!! :p http://pnwbands.com/machinegun.html |

Of course I meant it all in fun, even with the correction !! :D I could see in his face that it wasn't Hendrix then I found the Hansen website and voila !! There's the picture ! I'd seen a 'reform' of Mitch Mitchell, Billy Cox and Gary Serkin (Gypsy Sun Experience) back in the early 90s and originally thought it was Randy Hansen on guitar then, but not. Also I'd seen Buddy Miles and Noel Redding separately so I've seen ALL the regular players Jimi had played with but NEVER Jimi himself. :( Jimi and his bands have always been in my top 5 so I'm a rabid fan and it's too hard for me to pin down a 'best moment'. |
