From an interview w/ the Kiss bassist from teh new issue of Spin:

"I ignore words like Indie and Thrash and Metal. I wipe my ass w/ those words because their self-serving and holier-than-thou. You're fucking delusional if you think there's any difference between Sonic Youth and Led Zeppelin. You and I think there's a difference. Your mom thinks it's all noise"

my mom's pretty fucking clueless, but even she could tell the difference between Led Zeppelin and Sonic Youth, and she's in her sixties and hasn't hooked up the speakers on her computer because audio is that unimportant to her.

Simmon's mom would likely be 80+ though, so perhaps he's not thinking about how most living mothers grew up with loud rock all over the tv and in the shopping malls. funny, since he so helped make that happen.

My mother could tell the difference and her listening habits jump from Alicia Keys to Maroon 5!

I can't tell the difference between Sonic Youth and Kiss. Both bands do little more than spit fire and blood on stage, with very little musical innovation.

I wonder what Gene thinks of being name-checked on Master-Dik? Or if he's even aware of it?

I don't really care what Gene Simmons thinks about anything.

I bet Gene knows he was name checked. he had the Melvins open for Kiss on tour after all, and played bass for them a couple times even. he's nothing if not savvy, he just forgets that "mom" doesn't mean quite what it used to. my son's mom has stripped on stage to both Sonic Youth and Led Zeppelin.

no, I was sexually attracted to my wife long after I couldn't stand her personality anymore. now it's all pretty null.

the stripper the other night I could certainly be sexually attracted to, but I did find talking with her became a larger priority very quickly.

not true. you underestimate how many people never ever listen to loud rock n roll and you overestimate how many actually do or did. i have never heard loud rock at a mall. nickleback does not count.
