Prepping oneself for seeing the Violent Femmes

I'm seeing the Violent Femmes tomorrow, and I'm only really familiar with Why Do Birds Sing? and the S/T (the 2 disc one though). Should I try to familiarize myself with their latest album before going as well as some of their other ones? I'm assuming they play American Music, Blister in the Sun, Gone Daddy Gone, Add It Up, etc. at most of their shows. but I'm scared I won't recognize half of the songs.

Who cares? It'll be a sweet show. They'll play alot of the classics.

They might play a few new songs, but it's probably going to be a set mainly of the classics. I saw them when they were touring for "Freak Magnet", and I think the only song they played from that was the title track. Expect "Blister in the Sun", "Confessions", "Add it Up", "Kiss Off", "Country Death Song", "Gone Daddy Gone", "Gimme the Car", "American Music", "Prove My Love", "american Music", "Black Girls", etc. Theyre great live, so you'll have a lot of fun.

Violent Femmes! No prepping needed, just have a good time.

They'll play mostly oldies with maybe a song or 2 off Freak Magnet like he^ said. Give Viva Wisconsin a listen. Pray for "I Hate the TV."

a good band will make you want to buy the new album after the show. i usually wait til i see them live and decide whether i like the stuff i don't know; easier than trying to force yourself to like a new album.

ahh, you're seeing them in pittsburgh i assume?
Yeah, I'm definitely going even though I haven't heard any of their stuff since late 90s maybe.

scream for Never Tell hehe...

I fondly remember a Jacksonville trip to the board walk many years ago where Chickasaw Mudddpuppies were opening for Violent Femmes...

we prepped ourselves by smoking a big joint down on the beach in between acts...

good times.

You won't be bothered. You'll just dance and scream. I've met the Violent Femmes.
