Seattle show! No surprises, just rock.
Oh man, it was killer! Setlist was as expected, the entire new album + Mote (with 7 minute noise jam), Catholic Block, Shaking Hell, Expressway (with 15 minute noise jam). There were 2 basses for many of the songs (?!). My friend and I were like 10 feet in front of Lee the whole time. Steve really pounded the shit out of the drums. Kim and Thurston had hold a little conference because they couldn't remember what time the babysitter was supposed to show up. Fucking ace rock show. My 5th time seeing them. Anybody have pix?
I've also seen SY: Bumbershoot '99: Loose instrumental jamming, really mellow, lots of which ended up being NYCG&F (parts of Free City and Lightnin' were played), and they also busted out "She Is Not Alone" Moore Theatre '00: Fucking fantastic! First tour with Jim? My first real SY rock show. Bumbershoot '03: They were ON FIRE. Murray St madness. Showbox '04: Might be the best I've ever seen them. Tons of 80s stuff. Wolf Eyes opened and scared the shit out of everbody. Moore Theatre '06: See above.. Anybody else at these shows? |
I was at this show... pretty much the same place as you, I was right in front of Lee, far left side of the stage. Also was at the Showbox show a couple years ago, was about 10 feet away from Thurston.
Did anyone catch the name of the opening band? I kinda liked them. |
Awesome Color. I thought they were pretty good. The singer left for like 3 songs though... ha ha

I did make a recording on my mp3 device. Alas, it is hopelessly distorted. That show was LOUD and I was wearing earplugs! Before you ask, yes, I'm old... On the plus side, I didn't hear any noise from the recorder being in my shirt pocket. I was able to write down the set list if anyone is interested. |

I'm pretty sure that's the back of my head on the middle-left in picture 8, and second from the right on picture 11. |

Did anyone else tape this? I'd like to hear a recording, even if it is 'hopelessly distorted' (especially the end of 'Expressway!')... |
