Aube
Since then, he has created an enormous amount of work - most of which is based on one sound source. Anything is used - from glass to oscillators and even pages from the Bible.
As stated previously, each recording in Aube's catalogue is synthesized from one source sound. Many of his earliest recordings use water as a source, in either a still form or a gush, as from a faucet or a stream http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aube_%28band%29 Any else ever listen to him? I've heard Cardiac Strain, the source being a heartbeat. It's really good music made all the better knowing it's only from one source. If you haven't heard him before, you should check some of his stuff out. |
I've never been able to get into any Aube. I found Matmos' use of 'alternative' sources a lot more exciting. That one they did with the bones (I forget the name of the album) was great...

Never listened to Matmos before.
I think the idea is really what lured me in. |
A chance to cut is a chance to cure is the one I'm thinking of. It's great, I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Yes, Matmos - a chance to cut .. is an awesome album as is the new one. Aube is interesting but... eh.
|
Two positive posts..I'll give it a listen.

I've heard Triad Thread, which is the only Aube album I own. It's not particularly good though; each of the three songs on it have the same loud-quiet-loud structure, except it's not loud or intense at all. It starts with promising wind chime -like clanging sounds for the first 5 minutes or so, but after that the album is pretty dull.

I've listened to a lot of Aube lately, but it's actually really boring and irritating stuff that gets by on pure concept alone. Worth hearing some of his water records, I think.
|
aube is pretty meh, i heard a couple of his releases but nothing seriously great.
|
i really like aube-evocation. havnt heard a lot of his stuff though.

I've got New forms of free entertainment split with Lasse Marhaug. Harsh as hell, thought not particularly interesting. Listened to it about 5 times overall.
