Sacramento
Can't wait to see them in this small venue. The smallest I've seen them in before was the Crest here in town. Hope to see some of you, I'll be the 6'6" old guy with sholder length hair. Feel free to buy me a drink. The local rag has an article on the show http://www.newsreview.com/sacramento...id=oid%3A67842

I got tickets for the show. I've been looking forward to it for a while, It'll be my first SY show, and actually my first show at the empire. I'm hoping parking wont be a bitch seeing how it's downtown and all.

Aside from the usual from the previous setlists, a couple of new old ones. Pattern Recognition and Sunday, which Thurston said they hadn't played in 2 years. Overall a rippin' show....I managed to compliment Steve for a second after the show and ask him about the new Two Dollar Guitar lp. He said it's a great record (as if he's going to say the record was a total fuck up) and it's coming out in September. Damnit I wanted that setlist!!
|
Awesome. I really wanted to hear Sunday in DC because I still haven't fucking heard it and they play it quite often.
|
Yeah it was cool, other than people seeming to always have their cell phones out. Phuck that noise!! Here's the setlist to the best of my memory:
Incinerate Reena Catholic Block Pattern Recognition ---> crazy noisefest Rapture What a Waste Eric's Trip Rats Turquoise Boy 100% Sunday Pink Steam Or ---------------------------- Lights Out Jams Run Free ------------------------------ Schizo Shaking Hell |
Yeah the cell phone thing can get pretty annoying.
|
I just got back. Overall it was a great show. Sonic Youth killed, and the opening band Awesome Color was good as well. They had a kick ass drummer.
|
Cool show! had a blast. new stuff was great and the old stuff ruled! man I love this band! the opener was cool too which was nice. and a nice story about tsol and ch3 from Thurston. some wisecracks about medicinal pot from lee and Kim. I bet she had a cough. got a good aud recording, we'll share it when it's transferred. I'll keep y'all posted. noone bought me a beer. where's the love? rock on sonic life forever!

Man, what an awesome show!
The venue was perfect (very small) as was the setlist. I was happy to hear Catholic Block, although the two chicks fighting next to me partially ruined it but was kinda funny. And the noise after Pattern Recognition was incredible. Oh yea, but the guy who kept yelling for them to play Star Power over and over and over again was annoying as hell (you could tell kim was annoyed too). Other than those minor occurences, the show was amazing. And Shaking Hell was awesome and a perfect closer. |
I thought the show had a pretty strange vibe...SY was tight, but not much improv or noise. Thurston standing in the back quietly playing bass on shaking hell wasn't exactly thrilling. Though, I did get to play his guitar when he came offf the stage by me. ..even got to help him back up...but when i did, all these assholes pushed in front. oh well. we drove all the way from tucson...my daughter's first sy show...and Thurston wouldn't even give her a pick for her birthday....bummer...some nice middle school kid that got lee's pick from Awesome color, gave it to her....so cool.... thought the sound was kind of bad...especially the vocal mics....
|
the vocals sounded alright to me, but I was front, center, a couple rows away from kim. The pushing did get a little annoying, but it was to the right of where I was, so I didn't really get into it. But I did notice some tall guy to the right telling people to shut the fuck up and he seemed to be instigating the push pit.
|
yeah...couple of those big guys kept slamin into me and my daughter....kinda sucked...
|
we drove 800 miles....waited outside for 3 hours and then got pushed out of our front stage spots...at least we had them for when thurston came down on us..@@
|
Ahh the pretty colors and lights, S-Y were neat but I wanted more improvisation. It sucks that you can only go to a specific concert once, cuz you don't remember as much as you would had you seen it many times. I just wish I could be friends with Kim, and in Lee's bed. was that a little too forward?
I"M NOT A FREAK. did anybosy here a loud male voice yelling "YR SO HOT LEE" yeah that was me, he looked puzzled to say the least. |

Fuck Yeah, the Faces she made were priceless, Does anyone know what the singer's name was, he signed my spent VA slims pack, but I can't read it, and don't feel like looking them up on myspace what's with inter-crowd bias i heard many terms like yuppies, posers etc. Some grrrl left becuz of the crowd. Fuck the crowd, yr there to see S-Y. |
The singer wasn't really a part of the band. On their myspace it lists three members, their guitarist, the bass player, and the drummer. The rest were just guests.
but I think the first name of the singer was Joe. It's cool to see someone else from the grove, but I never wanted to claim it, so I just left it as california. |

I probably saw you guys outside before cuz I got there a couple hours early too. Did you leave the line to smoke at one point, and then tell the guy who took your spot to save it for you? |
When Kim introduced "What a Waste" she said something like "This is about that band 'Demcracy' or whatever they're called" does anyone know what that was all about?

I used to play guitar, and bass. These days I usually spend time on my midi keyboard. |
