anybody know how to rip audio from a dvd?

Yeah, so I'm trying to rip the audio from a dvd so I can burn to a cd. I just don't know how to go about doing it. If anyone here knows how or can recommend any programs to do so it would be greatly appreciated. Also, if it makes any difference, I'd like the files to be lossless so I can burn them to the cd with the least quality loss. I'd also like to keep the original channels (if possible) but it's not really a big deal if it has to become stereo.

play the dvd in virtualdub.. may require you to get virtualdub mpeg.. but you can save the wav from there.

rip with dvd decrypter to an iso file and open as an mpeg in avidemux.. save the audio in there.

play with vlc media player and save from there.

play with winamp, with the video plugin, and you can set the output to record the wav.

set your "recorder" to "stereo mix" instead of mic mix, open up a decent recording program (adobe audition, goldwave, cakewalk, soundforge, etc), hit record and play the dvd on your computer, it will record all the sound, might have to turn the volume down when it's all said and done, but it will work.. simple. but you'll have to let the entire dvd play through of course.

also, goes without saying, and i'm sure you know this, cd's only hold 79:59. most movies are longer than 80 minutes. so the best thing to do might be the recording directly off the dvd, that way you're already in a sound editing program so you can eremove parts if you need to.

if worst comes to worst, just record with a mic off of your television. you can even hook the avi cables into the mic port, and record into, agian, somerthing like sound forge.

Thanks.

At first, I though all of the things you wrote were different steps of one big process. It took me a few to realize those were all different suggestions. :)

I usually just use stereo outs into my i/o usb device (http://www.altoedge.com/usbaudio/inp...l#AUDUSBLB)and record with audacity, but I'm going to try some of the tactics above to get the actual digital file...thanks.

I eventually did this. Worked great.
