i drink a huge amount of coffee these days mainly due to me wife working in the industry and getting me the good shit all the time.

dude, you might as well be in the same boat, that shit is not coffee. I've been blessed, I had a cup of some Brazilian Java Estates this morning before work and two cups of Ethiopian Yirgachefe earlier this afternoon, all jet black.

during the weekdays, I get the good stuff. typically, it's Gevalia, the Royal Warrant of HM the King of Sweden.

my spouse becomes unstable around kitchen appliances, so I'm stuck with the crystals at home. . . ..

and yes, I like my coffee black as midnight, black as pitch, blacker than the foulest witch.

I haven't had instant coffee in more than four years. There is no way i could drink the stuff now. I like tea though.. So if there is ever no fresh coffee somewhere, there is still usually tea.. Though i'm fussy about that also.. Anyway.. Not even the *instant* stuff from work is any good. You need it fresh from the beans. It's the only way..!

coffee place was a bit of a fail this morning though. Opened late, my computers weren't working, shots pouring bad, etc etc.

I always think I'm not addicted to coffee, but then again I dring 4-6 mugs of it daily. Right now consuming my second one.
I thought that Gevalia is the cheaper stuff. What's the price of a coffee pack over there in yr countries anyway? I mean the basic stuff, not any organic special sort. I pay around 2-3€ for a 500g pack. Runs out in a week.

No idea, the odd occasion i buy coffee and don't get it for free, i buy something decent. Which means $60aud a kilo? Plus? I've bought vsmall amounts of coffee that was double that a couple times.. Before i worked where i do now though. Rarely buy coffee now.. I get a half kilo a week plus extra at work.. I don't often need more and give a lot away.
But having said that, why buy basic coffee! It tastes like crap and at that price the company selling it is most likely screwing the third world farmer into the ground...

Whenever I visit a coffee bar and order tea, people gasp in horror. It makes me feel SO insurrectionist.
