Basically, the first 5 or 6 are all absolutely essential. Phaedra is the essential one, but Zeit and Stratosfear are good too. Didn't you say you liked Klaus, al?

zeit, alpha centauri & electronic meditation are the ones to go for

Yeah I know, that's why I said they're a band I should love. I also really love Manuel Göttsching's work (solo and Ashra) so I don't udnerstand why I don't like Tangerine Dream... But yeah, I'll give them another try.

check out Gorguts, they're pretty similar to Emeralds also.

tangerine dream from "electronic meditation" to "ricochet" are one of my favorite bands of all time. "zeit" is my undisputed favorite album of all time. they lose me slightly from "stratosfear" till "tangram" (though those run of albums are still pretty good) and then just went to complete shit after that.
