Dear Satan, Slavo, and other photographers
I was looking through the "Things you bought today" thread after going through some old photos, and it clicked. I could use a camera.
I'm looking for something that has these properties: -Is relatively affordable -Film-based -Has a quality that makes it distinct from the look of a digital 342626megapixel camera. I like film grain. -Potential ability of double exposure I looked into the Holga, though was advised not to get one due to it's durability problems and not being able to wind the film back up (without being in the dark). Slavo, how do you feel about the Smena you have? It seems to take solid pics based off the galleries on their site ![]() Thanks for the help! :D |
If you want the medium format negs like the holgas give you then search ebay for zeiss ikon nettar, voigtlander bessa the vintage ones, not the modern range finder ones (although they are very good), stick with the ones that shoot 120 sized film, the 620 films are no longer available or very expensive and you will have to do a whole bunch of things to get the 120 films into the 620 cameras.
you can get good quality film slrs dirt cheap. i got my eos 33 for $10, my zeiss ikon for $25. |
I have a Smena 8m. It's decent and was VERY cheap (due to the fact there's lots of them in the market) and can do double exposure pics.
However, I also have a Lomo LC-A camera and it's crossprocessed pics (which is basically the only way I do my pictures) are much more beautiful, colours have much more depth and saturation. But, this camera is way more expensive and you can't do double exposure with it. So, it's basically up to you to which one you like better. I recommend both. If you want, you can hit me up on Facebook (Slavo Herman), I have a fairly big collection of pics made using both cameras there. |

You got me a little worried for a moment there ha ha. How much do you "spend" for film slavoman? |
haha, you funky Italian, you
a roll of film is like 5 EUR over here. |
find an old pentax or nikon if you can, they're around. check ebay.
as for film i recommend kodak gold |
Black and white film I like are ilford fp4, rollei retro 80, adox cms 20 and neopan 100. Colour film I like to use is reala 100. If you want a sturdy camera stick away from holga et al.
