i think its a fascinating look at where we are right now.

this woman seems to genuinely believe her son is an actual commodity that she owns the intellectual property rights to. she seems to think the legal framework of a modern capitalist state involves simply writing down things you want in official sounding language, demanding these things be given to you and expecting these demands to be met. a car of her choice, a drum kit for her son, an audience with the president, etc. etc. up to $250,000 of expenses in total. why? because her son got slapped. who pays for it? the government!

how someone can think they are entitled to all of this...

In 3rd grade I saw my black teacher hit a black student so hard he fell out of his chair and started crying. It is one of the strongest memories I have from elementary school. I remember thinking that my teacher must really have wanted him to do well because he was black.
