asp's classic albums # 90: psycho-baba - on the roof of kedar lodge

Yoshimi P-We and ATR from Boredoms, circa "trancey unbeleivably beautiful intense tribal music", there actually is nothing else out there that sounds quite like this. Sure, comparisons can be made to some other members of the Boredoms family tree, but the mixture of Indian and Eastern music influences, as well as the electronic manipulations, amazing use of didgeridoo, belimbaw, and toy instruments make this one of a kind. An absolutely amazing drum epic, abstract and beautiful in its rhythms, with topnotch production, and surprising left turns (about 4:47 into the title trakc, the trancey drone of the drums abruptly changes OUT OF NOWHERE for about three seconds)... even when the band seems really really out there, they still know exactly what they're doing, never losing their place.

Just flat-out the most interesting rhythms you'll ever hear recorded, quite possibly.

An extremely rewarding album, a world full of sounds, like the best of the Boredoms family tree it will take you to places you never knew existed. Spacey and spaced-out, blissed out to the heavens, frequently mind blowing and jaw dropping, and always interesting. Tribal perfection. During the listening of this abum, you will frequently have moments where you will remark to yourself that music doesn't really get much better than this.

I am pretty sure this is looooooooooooooong out of print. Just gets better with age. For those into Rovo and the latest OOIOO album and so on and so on and so on... perfection:

Ring in the new year with a party. If I smoked marijuana, I'm guessing this would be my faovrite album of all time. Has those beautiful "rhythmic loooooooooong equalizer sweeps" made famous by eYe on songs like Super Going, and most closely resembles AE/VCN era Boredoms, albeit less produced, more minimal, yet even trippier most of the time.

My enthusiasm for this album cannot be understated.
