One of those three ought to give you a sense of accomplishment. As a self-proclaimed slacker, I'd choose the first option as the easiest and simplest, but I can see advantages in the other two options if you've got the energy and resources.

for the first year of my life i lived in crouch end, but i've never been there since and have no idea what it's like, or where it is exactly. where is it and what is it like?

I put Crouch End but only because Hull wasn't an option.

I am happy living with my mate but i'm not keen on west London that much.
