Overhang Party
http://www.overhangparty.com Mute Era http://www.myspace.com/muteera Michael Yonkers and The Blind Shake have also just released a new album that is pretty awesome. |
i love broken boy soldiers by the raconteurs. it's strait up rock. and uhh.. shit.. i dont know, it's hard for me to name good contemporary acts that are strait up rock

What about the new Pearl Jam?
|
Hm. I've always viewed pyschadelic rock to be it's most straightforward, purest form. But that's on your list, so it makes the question difficult for me.

Hendrix.

www.myspace.com/bluebottlekiss definitely give The Judas Hands a listen. The link to their website then has more tunes. They're more than a 'rockband', but I think they're just what you're looking for.

the raveonettes always fit my need for just basic rock and roll
http://www.myspace.com/theraveonettes - just give love in a trashcan a try, or one of those great demos.... |
here's a variety of stuff, the last 6 things on the list are are metal of sorts, don't know where you stand on that, but i know metal isn't popular here... most of the list isn't metal though, but it's all good stuff either way. all contemporary too.
can can heads circle paik tivol moping swans lightning bolt coachwhips thought forms afri rampo COA oshiri penpenz doodles up-tight LSD March bardo pond on so so many white white tigers major stars comets on fire sanhedolin ectogram pumice times new viking jesu enslaved velvet cacoon lair of the minotaur high on fire leviathan |
T&b pretty much listed all I was going to toss around, but it's not the first time that happens.
For more noisier type of stuff I suggest: A-Frames Part Chimp Die! Die! Die! Trumans Water Silver Daggers Paik has struck a chord with me lately and made it's way on my "to get -list". Also, not contemporary, but more like timeless, High Rise who are possibly the rockiest band ever. |

I really, really like this band. No one knows who they are though. |
I just downloaded some of their stuff last night, the A-frames. They're cool.

Well, they're promising. Dunno what's their best album and is it worth buying. If you like them, you shoud probably check out Karate Party, who have at least one good song (out of the two I've heard)... |
A-Frames 2 is the title I think. Strange lyrics.
