I'm on this guitar forum on myspace and started a thread about alternate tunings. Now theres some dude on there whos like 40 and giving me shit and saying I use altern. tunings because I'm lazy and can't play chords so I make up tunings. The bottom line is that this dude is fucking stupid.

Oh yes, those guys are total hacks, hiding behind "tricks" to mask their lack of chops.
Guitar forums are full of people you would hate to play music with.

Give him an example of a tuning where it doesn't sound good when you strum it open or something...

he might be one of those assholes who drop their guitar(s) to D or B and find themselves revolutionary. or he doesnt do anything but regular.

Ask him what his feelings are on amplification or effects.
If he uses anything but an acoustic guitar, accuse him of being impure.

Well, maybe some people just use alternate tunings because SY do. It seems that sometimes SY themselves just use alternate tunings because SY do.

Hey now, I use "standard" tunings 99.5% of the time, and I've found it easier than using open or altered tunings...
