Reccomend some raw vocals in songs
So before everyone starts naming someone let me specify I don't want to hear any death metal incomprehensible screeches. I want more of like that good mix of rawness and melody like Lennon on "twist and shout", frank black on "tame",cobain on "aneursym" or anything the sonics did. I've just been getting such a kick hearing singers really unhinge themselves and exuding this kind of raw passion. I must hear more of this!

Are you a fan of the Drones?
http://www.myspace.com/thedronesthedrones They sound exactly like what you're after. Amazing guitar Amazing rhythm section. Amazing Lyrics and vocalist Pretty perfect band if you like melody with raw power! "Yeah, Dan Pearl They cut your head off on TV But I am not a camera A man is not an effigy But still all this horror Has made a trench out of my soul I'm gonna have to fall in love with a blind girl So she will not see the shame that I know" |

I agree with the blonde redhead. for Kazu's most intense vocals I recommend La Vita Mia Violenta and an expression of the inexpressable.

Great band, terribly underrated though. Last time I saw them in England it was in a pub. |

Raw Power - Screams From The Gutter LP
Motherfucker's not doing anything to cookie monster or screech owl his voice and it sounds like he's about an inch away from throwing up the pasta primavera he had for lunch...... that's a fucking sick album.......... |
I've always liked Dave Grohl's shouty urgent bark thing, bit of a one trick pony but it always gets me going a bit.
Personal fave from faux-angst teenage days were Jack Off Jill, sort of riot girl version of Marilyn Manson, second album Clears Hearts & Grey Flowers had some good shouty bits on it. Other personal fave (but one that I think still stands up as a worldy-wise 20-something) is Queen Adreena's vocalist Katie Jane Garside - check out Queen Adreena's 'Drink Me' or Daisy Chainsaw's 'Eleventeen' for the best girl screaming ever. |
even though im sure you´re aware of these
john lennon-well well well the hives- i only the hit, which i cant remember the name of, but its screaming its melody ya know husker du otis redding on some songs all i can think of off the top of my head. back to work! |
Rollins on My War - Nothing Left Inside, Three Nights, Scream, pretty ferocious, maybe obvious.
